This year sees the 30th anniversary of the 1oz Silver Maple - the second most popular Silver Coin in the world behind the American Eagle. To celebrate, The Royal Canadian Mint are releasing a number of limited edition variants of the 2018 Silver Maple, including this Incused version - which simply means the maple leaf and the Queens head are impressed into the coin, rather than sitting above the coin surface as it usually does.
The really interesting thing about this release is that the coins are bullion coins, rather than expensive proof versions, so silver investors as well as collectors have a good reason to buy them without incurring a particularly high premium usually associated with proof coins. The coins will be limited to a production of 250,000 coins.
The coin still contains one ounce of pure silver and the dimensions remain the same. Canadian Silver Maples also feature the radial background lines and a security mark which makes counterfeiting extremely difficult.
