Description

The 2015 Britannia 1oz is a British gold coin, minted by the Royal Mint. The weight of the coin is 31.21 grams with a fineness of 999.9 (24 carat gold), this means it contains 31.10348 grams of pure gold. The diameter of the coin is 32.69 mm. The 1oz Britannias have a face value of 100 Pounds and are legal tender in the UK.

The obverse of the Queen Elizabeth II 2015 Britannia 1oz Gold Coin features the fourth head portrait, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. This effigy of Queen Elizabeth II shows her profile facing right, wearing a diamond tiara. It is the fourth official portrait of Queen Elizabeth II to be used on coins minted by the Royal Mint. The sculptor's initials, ‘IRB’, are visible at the bottom of the head.

The inscription on the coin reads 'ELIZABETH II.D.G REG.FID.DEF'.

The reverse of the 2015 1oz Gold Britannia features the classic figure of Lady Britannia, designed by Philip Nathan, with the text ‘NATHAN’ at the bottom of the coin.
