Brand new 2021 half ounce American gold Eagle coins, featuring the new Type II reverse design. The new Type 2 gold Eagle is the first update to the design of these historic coins since 1986, and will be used for at least 25 years per US law.
The new Type II design is by artist Jennie Norris and was sculpted by the US Mint's Renata Gordon. It features a close-up focus on the national bird in stunning detail, and features the normal inscriptions surrounding it. The new design promises to freshen up the long-standing series, as well as allowing the US Mint to update it's anti-counterfeiting measures.
As the first year of issue for the new design, these coins are sure to be a huge hit among both investors and collectors.
As is typical for the series, the half ounce gold Eagle coin is struck in 22 carat gold (916.7 fineness) and contains 15.55 grams of pure gold. It is official legal tender in the United States of America, with a value of $25. By law, the gold must be sourced from American mines.
