The 2023 Tolkien £2 coin is struck in 925 silver with a proof finish, giving it a beautiful mirror-like surface and a frosted design. The outer rim of the coin is plated in gold for an attractive two-tone effect with the text ‘NOT ALL THOSE WHO WANDER ARE LOST’ inscribed around the edge. The reverse features the 'JRRT' monogram Tolkien used as a distinctive signature on his books, letters, and other documents.
