This stunning 1997 four gold coin Britannia Proof set is boxed with a certificate of authenticity. The face value £100 coin contains 1 ounce (31.104g) of fine gold, the £50 coin contains one half ounce (15.552g), the £25 coin contains one quarter ounce (7.776g) and finally the £10 coin contains one tenth ounce of gold (3.110g).
The coins are all heavier than these weights however, as they contain 22-carat (91.67%) gold. The non-gold content (8.33%) in these coins is Silver. The 1997 Britannia set was released to mark the 10th anniversary of the first Gold Britannia coin. As such, they feature a special new design for that year by the original designer of the Gold Britannia, Philip Nathan.
This set was originally limited to 1,500 issues, however the Mint only managed to sell less than 900 of these sets, so they are quite hard to find.
Following the changes to international shipping after Brexit, orders to the European Union under €1,500 will be sent with Colissimo, in collaboration with national postal services across Europe. Orders greater than €1,500 (up to €40,000) will be sent by FedEx.
All orders of any size or value up to €40,000 are sent with free, insured delivery, with a 25kg weight limit per parcel. Orders worth more than €40,000 will be dispatched in separate parcels on consecutive days.
