This coin was struck to celebrate the London Rio Olympic Handover Ceremony in 2012. It features a baton being passed between hands and has the inscription LONDON 2012 RIO 2016 in reference to most recent Olympic host city and the next.
The two pound gold coin - sometimes referred to as the Double Sovereign - contains 14.63 grams of gold (twice the weight of a Sovereign).
The obverse (front) of the coin bears the fourth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley.
