The obverse design of the gold Eagle features lady liberty with flowing hair, holding a torch and an olive branch was produced by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The reverse features a male eagle carrying an olive branch, protecting a nest containing a female eagle and her hatchlings, it was designed by Miley Busiek.
