The 2025 Year of the Snake Proof 1oz gold coin from The Royal Mint's Shēngxiào Collection series of lunar coins.
This coin celebrates the Year of the Snake and the reverse of the coin features a design by artist Chris Costello of a coiled snake on a background of grass and the Chinese symbol for the snake. The obverse of the coin features the official portrait of His Majesty King Charles III by Martin Jennings, as well as the coin's face value.
The snake in Chinese astrology is considered to be wise and cunning, and those born under the snake are considered independent, acting on their own judgement with insight. These coins would make a perfect gift for anyone born in the years 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013 and 2025.
This 2025 Year of the Snake proof one ounce (31.1g) coin is struck in 999.9 pure gold. It is presented in a handsome presentation box and comes with a certificate of authenticity and full colour booklet on the Chinese lunar snake. As with other coins from The Royal Mint, it is considered legal tender and is therefore exempt from Capital Gains Tax.
