Born on November 14, 1948, at Buckingham Palace, Charles Philip Arthur George, now King Charles III, ascended the throne on September 8, 2022, following over 70 years as the heir apparent. It features the King's royal cypher, with the number 75, framed by oak leaves and delphiniums.
The 2023 75th Birthday 1/40oz gold proof coin contains one fortieth of an ounce of 999.9 pure gold making it the smallest and most affordable proof gold coin produced by The Royal Mint. As a proof coin it has a highly polished finish and was struck multiple times with specially prepared dies to give it a sharp, detailed design. It comes in an official Royal Mint presentation card, making this a wonderful keepsake to remember such a momentous occasion.
