A Five Ounce Silver coin in the Egyptian Relic Series from the Republic of Chad. This glorious coin features the Sphinx of Hatshepsut, who was the second ever female pharaoh.
Her reign lasted about 21 years, although this is still debated today. She re-established trade routes that were previously disrupted. She was also one of the most prolific builders in ancient Egypt - among numerous building projects, she had twin obelisks erected at the temple of Karnak; one of which remains standing today and is still the tallest surviving ancient obelisk on Earth.
The coin shows the Sphinx of pharaoh Hatshepsut with the body of a lion and a human head wearing a nemes headcloth and royal postiche (a false beard).
This series of coins is unlike any other bullion coin out there - it is quite a stunning object to hold and to look at. World-renowned refiners Scottsdale Mint have created a modern looking coin with the feel of an ancient relic. It is made from pure .999 silver with a chiselled edge and antique finish. Containing five troy ounces and limited to a mintage of 20,000 coins.
