The 2023 Flying Scotsman Silver £2 Proof coin is a special commemorative coin released in honour of the 100th anniversary of the legendary steam locomotive, the Flying Scotsman. This iconic train is renowned for its record-breaking feats and is a symbol of British engineering and innovation.
The coin itself is made of .925 sterling silver and has a weight of 12 grams, with a diameter of 28.4mm. The obverse side of the coin features the portrait of King Charles III, while the reverse shows a colour painted Flying Scotsman in full steam, with the words "Flying Scotsman LNER 4472, 1923 - 2023" inscribed beneath it. The edge of the coin is plated in fine gold for a beautiful two-tone finish.
