The 20 Kroner Christian X coin was produced by the Copenhagen Mint on behalf of the Danish government. The coins for this specific King were made between 1913 and 1917, and they are a little larger than the British gold sovereign.
On the front of the coin is the Danish national shield at the centre, with the year of mintage, the coin value, and the initials VBP appearing below. These initials refer to the Mint's chief engraver during that period - V.B. Poulsen.
The reverse side of the coin has a side portrait of King Christian X and is accompanied by the words KONGE AF DANMARK or King of Denmark. Christian X was the son of Frederik VIII and sat on the Danish throne between 1912 and 1947. An estimated 3.7 million coins of this type were made, but many were damaged, lost, or destroyed in the subsequent wars making this version of the 20 Kroner quite rare.
